About the Ozone Zeolite 2 GT

The Ozone Zeolite 2 GT is the EN D evolution of the Zeolite line, drawing technology from the Photon and from the 2023 X-Alps Zeolite 2 XD. It is positioned as a comfortable but highly efficient wing for hike & fly, vol-biv and serious XC — light, compact in the bag, and faster and more agile than the Photon at the cost of higher pilot workload in turbulent air.

The profile carries Ozone's latest work on speed and handling, with most of the gain coming from a reworked cell-opening position. Aspect ratio is up slightly but stays moderate for the EN D class, and Ozone reports it remains comfortable in strong alpine conditions. Cell count goes up by seven over the predecessor, but a refined internal structure delivers the performance gain without weight penalty. Passive safety and collapse behavior were improved through better chordwise line support at the rear of the wing — and despite that added support, total line drag is lower than on the previous Zeolite GT. The new spanwise architecture is built entirely of 3-cell bridges, the same approach used on the Photon, which gives the best diagonal-panel ratio for the number of line attachments and keeps weight down while gaining efficiency. Compared with the Photon: the Zeolite GT is 1 kg lighter, packs smaller, has a different arc and goes without winglets — choices that yield the best possible thermalling feel but ask more of the pilot in turbulence (less pitch and roll stability, more precise inputs needed). Durability of the two wings is similar.

Strengths

  • Roughly 1 kg lighter and lower pack volume than the Photon — well suited to vol-biv and hike & fly
  • Lower line drag than the Zeolite GT despite added rear support
  • Excellent thermalling feel — winglet-free arc gives clean turn behavior
  • Cell count up to 71 with no weight penalty thanks to the new structure
  • 3-cell bridge architecture (Photon-derived) — efficient for its line count
