Air Design Soar 2

The Air Design Soar 2 is the second generation of Air Design's lightweight high-B XC platform — derived from the Rise 5 and rebuilt as a 2.5-line cross-country wing. 53 cells, 5.85 flat aspect ratio, five sizes covering 50–120 kg, EN B certified across the lineup. Sub-3 kg in size XXS — proper lightweight wing aimed at the all-round XC / hike & fly / vol-biv crowd, designed by Stephan Stiegler.

The 2.5-line construction has three lines through the centre and two at the tips — the same philosophy used by other modern high-B and EN C wings to gain the drag savings of a 2-liner without giving up the safer brake range and stall behaviour of a 3-liner through the centre. Two pairs of winglets are the headline visual change: they're there to help spiral stability and let the designer push more arc into the wing without sacrificing recovery behaviour. Cloth is 25 g/m² throughout, with 13 mm risers and fabric maillons keeping the connection light. Stephan Stiegler's own line on the design: the original Soar (released March 2020) was a popular, successful wing, so the Soar 2 had to keep that DNA while bringing in 2.5-line construction, the new arc, and the double-winglet design.
