About the Advance Alpha

The Advance Alpha is one of the longest-running entry-level wings in the sport — the latest generation is a more robust take on the formula, designed to launch you safely on day one and keep being a useful wing well after the licence is in your pocket. EN/LTF A across all sizes, 38 cells, 4.8 flat aspect ratio, five sizes covering 50–145 kg with broad certified, ideal and extended weight bands per size.

The platform is built around Advance's Air Scoop profile, which gives higher maximum lift and delays airflow separation — combined with a long, progressive brake travel, the wing gives a clear, well-telegraphed warning before the stall point, useful both for early pilots and for learning the wing's edge later. Pitch and roll behaviour are balanced for predictable launches and steady flight in turbulence, but the handling itself is responsive and dynamic enough to stay fun rather than dull. Setup is unusually pilot-proof: clear line layout, colour-coded risers and brake handles, and the Easy Connect System with coloured markings shared with Advance's harnesses, which makes hook-in mistakes (twisted risers, mis-matched carabiners) much harder to make. Cloth choice mixes Skytex 38 universal on the leading edge, top surface and design stripe, with Skytex 40 Easyfly on the lower surface and Skytex 40 hard finish on profiles, diagonals and tension tapes — a sail built to outlast the licence phase.

Strengths

  • Air Scoop profile + long progressive brake travel — clear stall warning, generous safety margin
  • Easy Connect System with colour-coded risers and brake handles — fewer hook-in errors
  • High turbulence absorption — smooth, steady flight feel even when conditions get rougher
  • Broad certified, ideal and extended weight bands per size — easy to pick the right wing
  • Robust cloth mix (Skytex 38/40, Skytex 40 hard finish on load areas) — built for school-fleet hours
