Ozone BV1
About the Ozone BV1
The Ozone BV1 is a lightweight pod harness purpose-built for vol-bivouac — Antoine Girard's harness on his 8400 m world altitude record over Broad Peak and the platform of choice among hardcore expedition pilots. Four sizes covering 155–195 cm pilot height, 1.8–2.1 kg total. EN/LTF certified to 120 kg (PH-340-2021 by Air Turquoise).
The BV1 is built around inflatable back protection, which has the side benefit of letting you load gear with the protector deflated, then inflate it in place — kit stays put in flight and comfort holds up even with the harness fully packed (the protector meets EN certification only when fully inflated). Storage is the headline: a 30 L inflatable-protector compartment under the seat with horizontal access for bulky items like a stove, tent or trekking poles; a 32 L dual-zip rear compartment closed with magnets, with hydration pouch routing over the shoulder; an under-cockpit pocket sized for an external battery; an upper pod pocket within reach for cameras; and a left-side stash large enough to take a camera pole. Solar-panel anchors on top of the pod let you mount panels post-launch to charge your power bank during glides. Support structure uses nitinol rods in the back and carbon rods under the seat — relaxed recline in flight, quick switch to landing position for tight top-outs. Wide leg straps run into an integrated bucket seat; both leg straps open for easy gear-up.
