BGD Lynx 2

The BGD Lynx 2 is BGD's lightweight EN C XC wing — 65 cells, 6.2 flat aspect ratio, five sizes covering 60–125 kg. The architectural choice that defines the wing is 2.5-liner hybrid construction: 3/3/3 main-line setup, with a true two-line outer section but three lines through the centre — chosen so the wing keeps a forgiving brake range and clean stall characteristics where it matters, while still gaining the drag savings of a 2-liner setup.

The reason BGD didn't go full 2-liner is practical: a pure 2-line setup needs more supporting rods in the sail, which drives up pack volume — and the Lynx 2 is built to pack small for hiking and racing. Construction uses a mix of light and durable Porcher cloths and short plastic rods, which keeps weight down (3.2 kg in XS) without making the wing a pure-light fragile build. Because the centre of the wing is still 3-line, the Lynx 2 mushes in cleanly for safe top-landings in wild terrain, and the brake range is large enough that pilots can pick exact landing speeds. Launch is unusually easy for the class. Trim speed is 39 km/h, top speed 58 km/h, with a quoted best glide of 11 and minimum sink of 1 m/s. Designed using BGD's Parasim simulation software with their usual easy-handling riser layout.
