À propos de Phi Sonata 2

The Phi Sonata 2 is the second generation of Hannes Papesh's mid-EN-A school platform — 40 cells, 4.72 flat aspect ratio, five sizes covering 55–145 kg with extended weight ranges, EN/LTF A across the lineup. Positioned just below the Symphonia 2 with notably wider extended weight bands, deliberately giving schools and pilots more sizing flexibility without leaving the EN A class.

Big internal step over the original Sonata: where the first generation used a simpler internal architecture, the Sonata 2 carries 3 main lines and plenty of diagonal fingers — unusually complex for a cost-controlled school wing. Papesh's design rationale: more arc curvature would have hurt roll compensation, so the structural stiffness target had to be hit through internals and line-angle work instead. The result is a wing that takes off easily, has excellent roll stability, and delivers performance that holds up well past the training hill — pilots can keep progressing on it without feeling under-winged. Lines are sheathed for easier handling by less-experienced pilots. Cloth is Porcher Skytex 38 with Easyfly. Riser layout is R10 3+1; risers are 500 mm in sizes 18/20 and 540 mm in larger sizes; speed travel 150–175 mm. Safety trainers report it behaves "very unspectacularly" in extreme manoeuvres — exactly what you want from a school wing.

Points forts

  • Generous extended weight ranges — wider sizing flexibility for schools and pilots
  • 3 main lines with diagonal fingers — unusually thorough internal structure for a school wing
  • Excellent roll stability and very easy take-off behaviour
  • Performance keeps pilots engaged well past the training hill
  • Sheathed lines — easier sorting and pre-flight for less-experienced pilots
  • "Very unspectacular" in extreme manoeuvres — confirmed by safety trainers
