Ozone Exoceat

The Ozone Exoceat is a low-drag pod harness aimed at serious XC and competition flying. Development began in 2011 with Fred Pieri running fairing tests at the ISAE school in Toulouse, then went through wind-tunnel work and a long beta phase with top competition pilots. EN/LTF certified and meeting CIVL Section 7 requirements, with a 125 kg max load. Sizing note: S, M and L share the same harness structure with different pod lengths; XS uses a smaller structure.

The whole harness is designed around drag reduction — inflatable nose cone, rear fairing and main surfaces are kept smooth, with closed-cell foam forming a light but rigid shell around the pilot and the double reserve container. A purpose-built air inlet keeps the fairing pressurised across yaw, pitch and thermalling positions. The bucket-seat design loads the frame evenly, with no pressure points even under heavy loading like spirals; the stirrup gives a "footrest" feel rather than a "push against a bar" feel, which lets the pilot relax against the back without compressing the shoulder straps. Roll stability is fully adjustable to bias the harness toward more authority or more stability per pilot taste. The signature safety feature is the ambidextrous double-bombay reserve — designed to deploy fast, with very large area, from either hand, in high-G situations, while staying low-drag when stowed. Generously padded back bumper runs the full length of the back and under the seat. Cockpit deck is angled 90° to the pilot's line of sight to cut glare on instruments, with an integrated removable ballast pocket positioned to keep CG neutral. Footplate is intentionally ultralight despite the harness not being a light overall — keeps take-off and landing comfortable when a heavier swinging pod-end would not.
