BGD Base 3

The BGD Base 3 is the third generation of BGD's sports-intermediate high-B — 57 cells, 5.7 flat aspect ratio, five sizes covering 55–125 kg, EN/LTF B certified. Born out of BGD's Performance Quest project (whose first wing was the Diva 2), the Base 3 inherits the high arc, short lines, tapered planform and raked wingtips that give that line its distinctive silhouette and the performance / stability gains that come with it.

BGD's optimisation software allowed performance to step up over the Base 2 without raising aspect ratio — useful, because it keeps the wing inside friendly EN B territory while gaining XC performance. Like the Lynx 2, the Base 3 is a 2.5-liner: 3/2/3 main-line layout with unsheathed micro-lines. The drag savings stack — fewer lines, thinner lines, no sheaths — and the rear-riser steering gives a real two-liner feel on bar without the usual full-2-liner trade-offs in stall behaviour and brake range. Pitch stability is a notable strength: very low surge tendency, but the wing stays talkative — pilots get clean feedback when they want it. New for BGD: the Base 3 has winglets, and they're there as a safety feature, helping the wing exit cleanly from steep spirals. The result is a feel-good glider with excellent glide performance, aimed at pilots breaking personal XC bests rather than trying to chase competition stages.
