À propos de Air Design LIVI

The Air Design LiVi is the lightweight sister of the Vivo 2 — same EN B 49-cell platform, same 5.38 flat aspect ratio, same airfoil, but rebuilt around lighter cloth (Dominico 10DSF, 25 g/m² instead of the Vivo 2's Skytex 27 double-coated 29 g/m²), unsheathed colour-coded lines, and crossed Nitinol rods in the nose instead of curved plastic. Almost a kilo lighter than the Vivo 2 in size S — 3.48 kg vs. 4.37 kg. Five sizes covering 50–120 kg.

Reviewers report flying behaviour is essentially identical to the Vivo 2 in the air — slightly more agile thanks to the kilo less weight and the different (slightly more aggressive) nose shape, but launch behaviour, climb, glide and stability sit on top of each other. The LiVi keeps everything that defines the Vivo 2: stabilo cells curved upwards into a winglet shape (Air Design say this enlarges projected aspect ratio, improves directional stability, and reduces drag), a B/C steering system on identical 12 mm webbing risers with a wooden bar, and easy textbook launch behaviour. The Nitinol leading-edge rods need abrasion patches on the nose to protect the lighter cloth where the rods sit. Brake handles have less padding and no swivels (swivels would damage the rings the brake line runs through). Reviewers comment that the wing is "not chatty at all" — flows around the sky smoothly, climbs cleanly without drama, and dampens the bumps comfortably. Big ears are textbook and efficient. Spirals generate notably low G-forces. Take-off weight ranges and weight bands are tighter at the top end (max size L = 120 kg) compared to the Vivo 2 which has an XL up to 135 kg.

Points forts

  • Almost a kilo lighter than the Vivo 2 per size — clear win for hike & fly, vol-biv and travel
  • Same airfoil and flying character as the Vivo 2 — no compromise on handling
  • B/C steering with wooden bar — same control system as the higher classes, useful for progression
  • Stabilo winglet shape, easy textbook launches, calm and smooth thermalling feel
  • Crossed Nitinol leading-edge rods + abrasion patches on the nose — durable where it matters
  • Slightly more agile feel than the Vivo 2 thanks to lower weight and tighter nose shape
