À propos de Kortel Kanibal Race 2

The Kortel Kanibal Race 2 is the second generation of Kortel's flagship competition pod — three sizes covering pilot heights from under 167 cm to under 194 cm, weights from 7.2 to 7.8 kg. Distinctive "banana" silhouette with an oversized fairing that extends right up to the top of the pilot's head — Kortel's deliberate choice to keep drag low across the full range of harness angles you actually fly at, including under different speed-bar settings. Lighter than the Genie Race 4 and X-Rated 7 in a like-for-like size, ~2 kg lighter than the Exoceat.

Build is unusually involved: Kortel quote 100+ hours and 640 components per harness, with 18 full prototypes and 2000 hours of design work going into the platform. Two long plastic battens run down either side of the spine for back rigidity (recommended to remove for plane travel — they kink if the harness is forced into a tight space). The variable ABS stability system is the standout in-flight feature: two cord-and-cleat controls placed high near the carabiners let the pilot tighten or loosen harness stability without removing hands from the brakes — tighten on glide for less buffeting and better glide efficiency, drop one side as you start a thermal turn, drop both for normal thermalling, then tighten the outside for weight-shift assistance once a core is established. Roll response is described as smooth, balanced and damped, with weight-shift turning that reviewers call "the most coordinated I've ever flown". Speed system uses larger winch pulleys with cord routing through plastic tubes — adds friction on the push but drops effort to hold full bar from ~20 kg down to 4–5 kg, which matters more on long competition glides. Storage is competition-grade: two large main pockets, side pockets, dual reserve containers, ballast, anti-G chute, Camelbak compartment, and a huge cockpit that fits a 7-inch tablet plus vario plus phone. Reserve install is faster than the Exoceat (rear-running zippers with plastic strimmer-wire closures). Carbon-tube extendable leg supports lock in place pre-launch. Auto-closing buckle system. Pod uses thick neoprene with hard fabric underneath for tail-wind landings.

Points forts

  • Variable ABS stability system controllable from the carabiners — usable mid-flight without releasing brakes
  • Oversized fairing extending to the top of the head — low drag across multiple harness angles and bar settings
  • Lighter than Genie Race 4 / X-Rated 7 size-for-size; ~2 kg lighter than the Exoceat
  • Speed system optimised for hold-effort: ~4–5 kg to hold full bar vs. ~20 kg on traditional setups
  • Dual reserve containers, anti-G pocket, ballast, Camelbak, huge cockpit (7" tablet + vario + phone)
  • 100 h / 640 components per harness; very high build quality with 2000 h of design work
